Oilers Set for the Delta League in 2026-2027
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA- The Huntington Beach Oilers are officially headed to the Delta League for the 2026-2027 cycles, ushering in a fresh chapter after two strong seasons in the Epsilon League.
Through the CIF Southern Section's competitive equity releaguing process, the Oilers join a competitive six-team Delta lineup:
• Huntington Beach Oilers
• Dana Hills Dolphins
• Laguna Beach Breakers
• El Modena Vanguards
• Western Pioneers
• Troy Warriors
The placement adds immediate intrigue, particularly with the Western Pioneers. The Oilers and Pioneers have met in each of the last two seasons—a thrilling 56-39 Huntington Beach victory in the 2024 CIF-SS Division 5 playoff opener, followed by a dominant 48-7 win in their 2025 nonleague matchup. Now, this emerging rivalry becomes a guaranteed annual league showdown.
Guided by head coach Matthew Hatchette, the former NFL receiver in his first full cycle at the helm, Huntington Beach has generated buzz around upcoming senior QB Brady Edmunds—the Ohio State commit whose dual-threat skills have made him one of the section's premier talents. The Oilers' high-powered offense delivered consistent highlights in Epsilon play, setting the stage for a strong push in the new league.
The transition bids farewell to Epsilon matchups against programs like Crean Lutheran and La Habra, while introducing coastal clashes with Dana Hills and Laguna Beach, alongside established battles against El Modena and Troy.
In a balanced Delta League, the returning firepower positions the Oilers as early contenders for titles and extended playoff runs.
